Many students find that No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu is easier to learn and feel that it has more real-life applications. No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu training is more fast-paced than traditional Gi training. It focuses more on raw natural strength and speed to quickly move to a dominant position and force your opponent into submission.

No Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is done with tighter fitting clothing. So, there is no loose fitting gi to grab onto when you are grappling with your opponent. You will have to train rigorously to develop your techniques to grab and maintain your opponent in a submission hold. Gi-BJJ by its nature creates a slower paced, strategic bout. The gi collar makes you vulnerable to choke holds and submissions from various angles.  No-Gi BJJ leaves fewer chances to slow down or grapple an opponent while sparring. You must rely more on chokes and control positions than over-hooking and clinching. No-Gi BJJ forces you to focus on your gripping technique
